Job Purpose
  • To manage the Development team across the Princes Foods business (Manufactured in line with the business plans for each sector and in line with Strategic Business plans.
  • To ensure the professional workings of the team in line with internal policies and procedures and external/internal audit requirements.
  • To develop and maintain close working relationships with suppliers and with external/internal customers.
  • To manage the activities of direct reports and ensure that synergies are identified on ways of working with drinks and traded NPD teams.

Principal Responsibilities
  • Oversee the Development projects ensuring robust end-to-end management and reporting controls are in place.
  • Represent Princes Development functions both internally and externally always presenting an authoritative and professional image.
  • Extend NPD responsibility to ensure that all new/revised recipes are briefed to the appropriate parties in line with defined business / customer / supplier requirements.
  • Ensure that all recipes and materials used in products are fit for purpose, and correctly documented in line with company policy.
  • Work with the Technical Group Departments to rapidly resolve any issues that arise.
  • Ensure on-going competitiveness of Princes supplied products through competitor product analysis and benchmarking.
  • Achieve internal project targets and external customer launch dates on time and within agreed budgets.
  • Manage all departmental commitments in line with resources.
  • Review forthcoming legislative proposals and ensure that any changes required are managed in a cost efficient and timely manner.
  • Define and develop cost saving programmes in line with agreed annual business targets.
  • Review and report key metrics, issues and opportunities to the management team.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
  • Graduate level within a relevant degree field encompassing food science and technology.
  • An in-depth understanding of NPD processes and procedures gained within an FMCG environment.
  • An understanding of longer-term R&D project management.
  • Experience of managing a team to deliver against targets and tight deadlines.
