As Group Asset Care Engineering Manager, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our operations and delivering exceptional value to millions of customers. It oversees asset ‑ care governance to ensure maintenance strategies are consistent, compliant, and aligned with future operational needs By strengthening asset reliability, reducing operational risk, and optimising lifecycle performance, this leader will shape a unified approach to maintenance excellence, driving continuous improvement in maintenance practices supporting safe, efficient, and sustainable environment across the organisation. Key Responsibilities: Strategic Leadership & Governance
Develop, implement, and govern group ‑ wide asset ‑ care standards, processes, and KPIs. Establish a unified engineering governance framework to ensure consistency across all sites. Lead the transition from reactive to proactive and predictive maintenance strategies.
Reliability & Asset Performance
Develop, implement and oversee a new era of reliability engineering, condition-based monitoring, and failure ‑ prevention programmes. Analyse asset performance data to identify systemic issues and improvement opportunities. Ensure robust root ‑ cause analysis and continuous improvement practices are utilised across the operational landscape.
Compliance & Integrity
Strengthen statutory compliance and mechanical integrity assurance across all sites. Ensure all maintenance activities meet regulatory, safety, and environmental requirements. Provide clear accountability and oversight for engineering compliance.
Maintenance Optimisation
Drive standardisation of maintenance practices, tools, and systems. Optimise maintenance cost through lifecycle planning, spares optimisation, and reduced reactive work. Integrate asset ‑ condition data into strategic CAPEX planning to optimise replacement timing and lifecycle value.
Digital Transformation
Lead the adoption of predictive analytics, IoT technologies, and digital asset ‑ care tools. Drive a cultural shift toward data ‑ led decisions and innovative maintenance methodologies that elevate reliability and efficiency
Capability Development & Technical Leadership
Build engineering capability across sites through coaching, training, and knowledge sharing. Provide expert technical support to site engineering teams. Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
Key Deliverables:
Group ‑ wide asset ‑ care framework and KPIs implemented. Reduction in unplanned downtime and reactive maintenance. Improved statutory compliance and mechanical integrity assurance. Predictive maintenance technologies deployed and embedded. Enhanced engineering capability and cross ‑ site knowledge sharing. Improved alignment between asset condition and CAPEX planning.
Role Requirements Knowledge, Skills & Experience: Essential:
Qualification in a relevant or related engineering discipline.
Significant experience in asset management, reliability engineering, or maintenance leadership. Demonstrated engineering leadership within food manufacturing or FMCG, with a proven track record of improving asset performance across multi ‑ site industrial environments. Strong understanding of statutory compliance, mechanical integrity, and safety standards. Experience implementing predictive maintenance technologies and digital tools. Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder ‑ management skills. Financial acumen with experience in budget management and ownership.
Desirable:
Chartered Engineer (CEng) status. Demonstrated ability to leverage CMMS/EAM tools and analytics platforms to improve asset performance and maintenance efficiency. Background in manufacturing, processing, utilities, or heavy industry.
