Job Purpose To ensure the procurement of Frozen Fish ( primarily Tuna ) at the lowest cost for the quantity, quality, species and delivery requirements of the Company’s Mauritian processing operations.
In coordination with PTM management team maximise the utilisation at best cost of the PTM logistical operations especially cold store provision and in bound logistics operations.
To deliver sustainable and ethical sourcing policies, focusing on and supporting Princes ESG Team and objectives and in conjunction with ISSF to help drive change within the industry.
Dimensions
- Responsible for all round frozen tuna purchasing requirements, management of strategic purchasing decisions and targeted raw material stock holdings as set out in the Company budget.
- Annual direct spend c€100m.
- To support wider Commercial Teams in achieving their objectives.
- Supporting the Princes ESG Team specifically related to company tuna sustainability objectives and to provide market insight.
- Internal contacts – Procurement , Sales , Commercial , Technical, Finance, Corporate Relations , Legal.
- External contacts – suppliers , customers , service providers , trade bodies , Government and Non-Government organisations.
Principal Responsibilities and Accountabilities
- The total management of the Procurement of Round Frozen Tuna, its technical specifications and pricing.
- Accountable for the contracting, planning, organising and delivery of tuna raw material purchasing function in close liaison with management team in Mauritius and to achieve Group requirements and objectives.
- Support the achievement of Company tuna sustainability goals and objectives and in line with ISSF commitments.
- Interaction at all levels of management and other stakeholders both internal and external including Government and NGO representatives. This e position requires the job holder to be able to communicate effectively and work with a wide range of departments and take a pro-active role in the business.
- Assist and advise in developing and updating supplier and in-bound logistics strategies to maximise the effectiveness and efficiencies within PTMs overall cost management.
- Represent and act as one of the more senior members of the Procurement team on major issues / initiatives as required.
- Develop key supplier partnerships to drive long term sustainable value across the whole supply chain and manage procedures to identify and mitigate supply risk.
- Professionally resolve problems both internally and externally in a fair and ethical manner while protecting the long-term interests of the company.
- Maintain a high level of market intelligence and disseminate relevant information to key internal stakeholders to support strategic planning and decision making.
- To maintain product Food Safety, Legality, Integrity, Authenticity and Quality standards by ensuring all associated policies and procedures are adhered to.
