Princes Cardiff is looking for a Process Engineer / Built In Quality Leader to join our state-of-the-art Cardiff site. This is an opportunity to work at our Centre of Excellence for Juice which was established just two years ago, following a substantial £60 million investment.

The Position

Reporting to the Operational Excellence Manager, you will be tasked with ensuring that manufacturing and operational processes consistently meet and uphold expected standards and requirements, while effectively fulfilling customer needs.

Collaboration with cross-functional teams, including site, technical, product development, engineering, and production, is essential for designing and implementing systems, processes, and standards across our manufacturing sites.

Your responsibilities will encompass overseeing the manufacturing aspects of the quality management system and monitoring operational compliance with these defined processes. You will be accountable for the impact of process adherence on product quality, safety, and integrity.

Furthermore, you will play a pivotal role in leading investigations into incidents, process failures, or product performance issues. This includes coordinating root cause analyses and implementing corrective and preventative actions for manufacturing process failures, spanning from intake to dispatch.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy and Development

  • Contribute to the creation and implementation of best practice manufacturing quality & food safety culture, vision, strategy, policies, processes, and procedures to aid and improve operational performance measures that matter [MTM]
  • Establishing strategies to improve process efficiency, the delivery of operational / manufacturing right first time [RFT], and profitability through process review / waste reduction.
  • Contribute to new business initiatives and projects and review and communicate the impact on operational activities.

General and Task Management

  • Work proactively with all functions, Leaders, and employees, to maintain a program of continual operations improvement within their areas of responsibility.  
  • Lead problem solving methodology (Lean multi step), perform operations root cause analysis and resolution
  • Lead the team to achieve operational quality / waste target MTM for manufacturing & C.I objectives.
  • Ensure operations / manufacturing processes, deliver on product safety, quality and consistency expectations of customer and brands.
  • Provide clear leadership & coaching for the development of a food safety and quality culture within the operations / manufacturing / production environment  
  • To be the communication conduit for production and technical lead, on the operations / production team engagement with customers
  • Develop and conduct controls plans & Failure Mode and Effect Analysis [FMEA].
  • Implement all relevant procedures in the Quality Management System [QMS], as they relate to the areas if operational responsibility and accountability
  • Ensure that all in-house [manufacturing] systems and procedures are maintained, updated, revised and modified to meet requirements. Train out and communicate to identify learning opportunities.
  • Champion a program for the implementation and sustainment of a continuous improvement and food safety & quality culture, within the sites operations teams
  • Report against agreed metrics on a daily, weekly & monthly basis
  • Lead regular operations BIQ events with representatives from appropriate departments to establish an action plan for improving food safety & quality culture / built in RFT and product & process waste as they relate to operations areas of responsibility
  • Produce written reports and make presentations
  • Identify and deploy the necessary skill sets, resource levels and systems to deliver projects, including the engagement of external resources as required.
     
  • Process / Production / Mechanical Engineering Experience. You will need to have an Engineering background to be considered for this role.
